The UN Information Centre in Beirut, in collaboration with the Lebanese American University, organized an event at the UN House-Beirut on Friday September 17 to Stand Up, Take Action and Make Noise for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The event brought together around 200 participants, including Lebanese government representatives, ambassadors from the diplomatic corps, Heads of UN agencies and missions, University officials, students and their parents, NGOs, and students from Model UN Program and UN staff.

Eight University students gave a power point presentation on the eight Millennium Development Goals, including their implementation in Lebanon, points of weakness, strengths, as well as recommendations.

University and school students, as well as NGOs and members of civil society, all Stood Up and made noise for the MDGs and pledged in an oath to implement them in Lebanon.

A proclamation containing recommendations on the implementation of the MDGs in Lebanon was handed over by students to the representatives of the Lebanese executive and legislative authorities and to UNIC Beirut Director Bahaa Elkoussy, who delivered a copy to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
