    Thursday - 09 Feb, 2012 - Nigeria has called on countries across the globe to redouble their efforts to make the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) a reality.

    Dr Precious Gbeneol, Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs made the call at a news conference on the UN Millennium Campaign and the progress of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria at the UN headquarters on Tuesday.

    Gbeneol was accompanied by Rep. Adeyinka Ajayi, Member House Committee on MDGs.

    The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) held the High-Level Conference on World Food Security: The Challenges of Climate Change and Bioenergy in Rome on June 3-5, 2008. Throughout the three days of events, 42 Heads of State and Government, 100 high-level Ministers and 60 non-governmental and civil society organizations from 181 member countries discussed the challenges that climate change, bioenergy and soaring food prices pose to world food security and devised ways to safeguard the world’s most vulnerable populations.
